COLOGNE, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2005--ANGA Cable 2005 Cologne, hall 14.2 stand C7, 1 June 2005: Visitors to the Pace Micro Technology (pic.l) stand at ANGA Cable will be able to get their first glance of the company's cutting edge personal video recorder (PVR) set-top box developed for Premiere.
This set-top box is currently going through certification for Premiere and will be deployed by Premiere during the roll-out of its payTV satellite PVR service from this summer onwards
Pace's TDS460KP for Premiere features an 80 Gbyte hard drive, which provides over 40 hours recording without the need for a single video tape.
Meanwhile, this innovative set-top box is set to reduce the number of arguments in households as integrated twin tuners allow users to watch one programme while another is being recorded or even record two programmes and watch one from the hard disc at the same time
With the Premiere PVR by Pace, users can also pause live TV, fast forward, rewind, time-shift and automatically record multiple episodes in a series
The set-top box comes with a multi-lingual electronic programme guide (EPG) and incorporates an embedded Nagravision Conditional Access (CA) system
"Pace is a pioneer of PVR technology", Pace's Area Manager for Central Europe, Heinrich Haase explains.
"Pace delivered Sky+, the first payTV PVR for BSkyB in the UK and launched the UK's first 'free-to-air' PVR
"Now, we are leading the development of new PVR technology worldwide.
In Australia Pace recently announced a contract with FOXTEL, Australia's leading subscription television provider, to supply the first ever cable PVR set-top box for a payTV operator to roll-out the region's first ever cable PVR offering
"And in the US, Pace launched the Tahoe high definition (HD) PVR in April, which far outstrips its competition for picture quality, hard drive capacity and connectivity - highlighting Pace's commitment to pushing the technological boundaries of what is possible." Pace will retail the TDS460KP with its commercial partner Strong throughout Germany and Austria starting this summer
